Abstract

The project Video Summarization addresses the challenges students face when learning from educational videos on platforms like YouTube. With the overwhelming volume of video content, learners often struggle to extract key information and retain critical concepts. To tackle these issues, the proposed Video Summarization platform incorporates text summarization, quiz generation and phrase-directed navigation. The platforms core feature is automated video sum- marization, which uses advanced NLP techniques to extract key points from video transcripts, allowing users to focus on the most appropriate information and modernized their learning pro- cess. To enhance engagement, the platform includes interactive quiz generation based on the sum- marized content. This feature helps reinforce learning by automatically generating quizzes that test users understanding of the material, providing instant feedback and improving retention. Additionally, the platforms phrase-directed navigation tools allow learners to easily locate and access specific sections of a video making it easier to find and review content without manually scrolling through lengthy videos. Built with a combination of Python, React.js, Flask, and MongoDB, the platform integrates key APIs like YouTube Data to embed and transcribe videos seamlessly. Initially focused on educational content, the platform has the potential to expand to other domains like professional training and tutorials, making learning more interactive, accessible, and personalized to indi- vidual needs
