Abstract

The Virtual Keyboard System is a contactless computer vision-based interface that converts hand gestures into digital keyboard inputs, facilitating touch-free interaction through real-time hand tracking and gesture recognition. Utilizing MediaPipes hand detection framework and Open CVs image processing, the system enables users to interact with a virtual keyboard overlay through natural gestures. By tracking 21 hand landmarks, it accurately detects finger positions, allowing users to type by performing pinch gestures. Incorporating advanced algorithms for gesture recognition, the system supports commands like the peace sign for copy operations, enhancing functionality. It processes video input in real time while maintaining high accuracy, making it ideal for environments where physical keyboards are impractical. The system also provides immediate visual feedback for a responsive, user-friendly experience. This adaptable interface has potential in sterile settings, public interfaces, and accessibility-focused applications, underscoring the promise of natural user interfaces in human-computer interaction Keywords: Computer Vision, Hand Tracking, Gesture Recognition, Virtual Keyboard, MediaPipe, Human-Computer Interaction, Contactless Interface, Realtime Processing, OpenCV, Natural User Interface
